As we travel, our goal is to sample the local cuisine, but to avoid the typical fast food places, and dodge the big chain restaurants. Many local bistros offer a wonderful meal.

I recall a hamburger shack, just outside of Fort Hood; the proprietor would season the beef a certain way that made for, in my opinion, the world's best tasting hamburger, albeit a little greasy. Fond memory, yes, but this table lists places much closer to West Virginia and Appalachia.
